The Chemical Reaction with N'Dea Irvin-Choy
Sep 15, 2021 Season 3 Episode 7
Eunice Pierre-Louis, Rachael Kaufman, N'Dea Irvin-Choy

Coming out of high school, N’Dea Irvin-Choy knew she wanted to go into some form of engineering while also playing her favorite sport, field hockey. The school she wanted to go to didn’t accept her in the engineering program she wanted, so she pivoted.

She is now a Ph.D. candidate in biomedical engineering and pioneering new research in various medical applications for pregnant women.

We found her through a series of TikToks highlighting people of color in STEAM fields. She is a young, motivated, inspirational face for a whole new generation.

Her ability to manage a physically demanding sport while also pursuing such a difficult degree is a testament to her willpower. What she wants everyone else to know is that while it hasn’t always been easy, she knows that this is possible for everyone.

Listen to hear her story, why she’s become such an avid advocate for young people of color, and how you can get into a similar field. You truly won’t want to miss out on this amazing chemical reaction.

Definitely check out her social channels. She shares so many books, blogs, and resources that will help you become a much more well-rounded human being. They’re worth a look!
